Full Moon in Libra & Spring Equinox

On March 20th, the Sun enters Aries and gives us the Spring Equinox.

Sun’s entrance in Aries – or Sun at 0° Aries – represents the beginning of a new astrological year. The Sun starts a new journey around the zodiac. No matter where you live on the Earth, the day is equal to the night.

Equinox literally means “equal night.”

The reason why the Equinoxes are so powerful is because no matter where you live, you experience the exact same amount of light and darkness. The Sun and the Moon share the sky as equals.

The sacred masculine (the Sun) and sacred feminine (the Moon) are in perfect balance with each other. It’s this perfect equilibrium to allow new life to be created.

Why The Spring Equinox Is The Beginning Of A New Astrological Year

What does the equinox mean from an astrological perspective? In a year we have 2 equinoxes and 2 solstices.

The equinoxes happen when the Sun is at 0° Aries (Spring) and at 0° Libra (Fall). The solstices happen when the Sun is at 0° Cancer (summer) and at 0° Capricorn (Winter). The 4 degrees mark the “cardinal cross” and represent the 4 points in the sky where the Sun changes direction (as seen from Earth).

All these 4 points are extremely important, but 0° Aries is the most relevant from a “new beginning” perspective because this is when the Sun rises North of the equator (and North = initiation).

No matter where you live on Earth (in the US/Northern Hemisphere or Australia or Southern Hemisphere), on March 20-21st, the Sun will rise North of the equator. By June 21st (when we have the Cancer solstice) the Sun will reach the most North point, and after June 21st, the Sun will start descending, or start going South.

Because the Spring Equinox happens when the Sun starts its ascension, we consider the Spring/Aries equinox (March 20-March 21st) the beginning of a new Sun (yearly) cycle.

In many traditions the time around the Spring/Northern equinox marks a new beginning. Easter is in fact calculated based on the Equinox. Easter takes place on the first Sunday (‘Sun’-day) after the first Full Moon after the Spring Equinox. Easter celebrates the resurrection of Christ (the cardinal cross) in the same way the Sun is ‘resurrected’ from the Southern descent and crosses the celestial equator going from South to North. Have I lost you yet?

What To Expect From The Upcoming Spring Equinox On March 20th, 2019

In 2019, the equinox takes place on March 20th. That’s why March 20th will set the tone for the new astrological year.

If we look at what’s going on in the sky on March 20th (what transits we have), we will know what to expect in the upcoming 12 months.

This year, the equinox point is conjunct Chiron. This conjunction stands out because it is very tight. Chiron is a symbol of holistic healing. This means that 2019 will be the year of holistic and spiritual healing.

In Shamanic tradition, illness occurs when someone’s spirit is fragmented. The Shaman is a healer with special spiritual powers who is able to travel in between worlds. In Shamanic tradition, there are three worlds: the lower world, the middle world, and the upper world.

The Shaman (ME!) is able to make the spirit whole again. In astrology, the Sun is a symbol for the Spirit (the divine spark of consciousness in the center of our being). Because the spirit is broken into pieces, the person cannot function properly. This is when we will go on a journey (in the lower world, middle world and upper world) to find the broken pieces of the Spirit. Once I find all the broken parts, I bring them together into a whole and allow healing to take place. This is the best time to book a Shamanic healing journey or ritual with me.

Chiron is a symbol for the Shaman. Chiron orbits between Saturn (the lower world) and Uranus (where the upper world begins). That’s why Chiron in astrology represents the Shaman, or the ‘mediator’ between our animal side and our divine side. Chiron is half-horse (animal), half-God after all!

A Journey To Wholeness

The Northern Equinox conjunct Chiron means that at a collective and individual level, this year we will have the opportunity to restore our wholeness.

The journey won’t be easy. We will have to open ourselves to the mysteries and embrace the unknown. There is no greater gift than restoring one’s wholeness. No matter what needs healing in your life, in the coming year you have the chance to finally restore your balance.

This year you could meet a wonderful shaman (Hi!!!), or a teacher, a priest, or a healer. Chiron is a symbol for mentors, so you can expect to find a mentor that will stir your life in the right direction.

The March 20-21st Full Moon is a Super Moon that falls at zero degrees of Libra.

Having a Super Moon at zero degrees is extremely potent and represents a wave of new potential. The fact that this Full Moon also falls around the same time as the Equinox enhances this energy, and brings new beginnings and fresh starts.

This Full Moon is going to supercharge us and wake us the F-up!  Find some new inspiration and something that sparks joy. You will most likely feel a serious and exciting push forward.

This ritual is going to help you release anything from the past (please play “Thank you, next” during your ritual, find my Spotify release playlist here) and welcome in the new newwwww.  This lunar energy is going to balance you out and shine on you in all the right places, just like a lumilight.

Here is a ritual invitation — but feel free to make up your own, whatever feels good for you.

You will need:

Smudging tool of choice

3 Flower buds or leaves

Bowl of purified water

Pinch of sea salt

1 tumbled amethyst

4 white candles

1.) Begin by smudging your aura and surroundings. As you smudge your body be sure you don’t forget the bottom of your feet and hands! As you clear, recite:

“I cleanse and release the dense energy that flows around me. I cleanse and remove all that keeps me weighted. I release and let go of all pains and emotions that no longer serve me. I am light. I am clear. I am light. My energy is restored and I feel renewed.”

As you smudge your surroundings, recite the following three times:

“I remove all stagnant energy from the past. My home is clean and cleared. A fresh new energy may now enter but only one that is light and free. My home is safe and protected, I am happy here. Goodness fills every corner of my home, bringing abundance, prosperity, peace, and love. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”

2.) Light some candles to set the mood - nows the time to put on that playlist (Spotify). Have all your ritual ingredients in front of you for easy access. Hold your amethyst and sit in a comfortable position. Close your eyes, settle your mind.

3.) Pick up one of your flowers, hold it in your hands, and recite the following and/or whatever you feelzzzzz in the moment:

“The past has shaped me, it has made me strong. I honor my past and who I have become. The memory from my past that stands out the most to me right now is (Insert whatever first comes to your mind). I honor that this memory came to me. I honor that it has something to teach me. I release it and let it go, I release it so I can grow. The time has come for me to move on. I thank the past, but now my work here is done.”

5.) Take a deep breath in and on your exhale, imagine you are releasing all of your past that you no longer wish to carry. When ready, place the flower into the bowl of water.

6.) Take your next flower and hold it in your hands. When ready, recite the following or feel free to say whatever comes to you in the moment:

“My present is who I am. I no longer have to accept things that don’t fill me up or make me feel aligned. I honor my responsibilities, but I also honor my heart. I am so proud of myself for (Insert proud moment here) but I also know I need to stop (insert here- go with whatever comes to your mind first!). Dear Universe/Spirit/God, please guide me to release this from my life. Please reveal to me the next steps so I can bring closure/healing to this situation.”

7.) Take another deep breath in and on your exhale, imagine you are bringing joy and healing into your life right now. When ready, place the flower into the bowl of water.

8.) Take your final flower, holding it in your hands, recite the following:

“My future is bright. My future is a dream come true. I ask the Universe’s help in bringing (insert) into my life. I ask the Universe to guide me to the steps I need to take in order to make this dream a reality. I trust that all I desire will unfold in perfect timing and in the perfect way.”

9.) Take a deep breath and imagine you are sending your wish out into the Universe. When ready, place the third and final flower into the bowl of water.

10.) Take your bowl of water with the flowers in it and add the pinch of sea salt and your cleansed amethyst. Place the bowl of water outside or by the window under the light of the Full Moon for at least 15 minutes or longer and dance around your house, use it as a form of meditation, or you can be basic and just sit and meditate - either will work!

11.) Come back to your bowl of water. Holding it in both hands, recite the following three times:

“I am ready to enter into the new. Mind, body, soul is balanced. I feel aligned.”

12.) Take a sip of the water and feel the energetic effects soaking into your body. If your water looks a little suspect and you don’t want to drink it, dab the water over your third eye or gently splash it over your face.

13.) To close the ritual, take the amethyst out of the water and dry it off. Keep it by your bedside for the next 3 nights. You can keep the flowers till they are ready to be returned to the earth. Snuff out your candles! And listen to the messages of the dream time.

Enjoy your high vibes.
